Woodridge
Elementary School opened in 1952, with grades 1 through 6 and an
enrollment of 558 students. At that time, the school consisted of only 3
wings, 2 of which had the classroom doors open to the outdoors, and
one of the wings was enclosed.
In 1954 a fourth wing was added to
accommodate Woodridge’s all time high enrollment of 923 students.
Currently, Woodridge has 848 students which puts us over 30,000
students we have served since opening.
In 1973, Woodridge added Kindergarten
students for the first time as our enrollment dipped for a short time,
reaching an all-time low of 303 students in 1976. In 1980,
Woodridge’s 6 th grade students left to join the Junior School. Then
in 1984, the Kindergarten students moved to Howard. As a result,
Woodridge has had grades 1 through 5 since 1984.
In 1988 and 1992, wings 1 and 2 were
enclosed and our current library was built. In 1998, Woodridge added
our 5 th wing and our auditorium. At that time a time capsule was
created to be opened in 2025.
In October 2022, we celebrated Woodridge's 70th Anniversary! Here’s a short montage of the day.
