Welcome
to the 4th Grade Spanish Immersion. My name is Erika Ganey and
I will be your child's teacher this year. I am ecstatic to have the
opportunity to work with your child. This is my 28th year in education
and I have experience in Bilingual, Spanish Immersion, ESL, and
traditional classrooms. I am also dyslexia therapist trained and have a
M.A. in Educational Administration and Principal certification. I have experience teaching in grades first through fifth in both the public and private schools. I taught
the Spanish Immersion class at Woodridge from 2000-2006 and I have also taught at Cambridge. I am looking forward to a
fabulous year.
I
was born in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and moved to Austin when I
was seven years old, so I consider myself an “Austinite”. I am married
to the love of my life Tom and we have three children: Isabella is an Texas A&M University graduate, living in Mexico City, Sean Thomas is a junior and following his sisters footsteps in College Station, and my stepdaughter Erika (yes same name) lives in Houston. We enjoy being outside
together, traveling to new places, and spend a lot of time playing tennis and pickleball.
Bienvenidos a la inmersión en español de 4to grado. Mi nombre es Erika Ganey y seré la maestra de su hijo este año. Estoy muy contento de tener la oportunidad de trabajar con su hijo. Este es mi año número 28 en educación y tengo experiencia en clases bilingües, de inmersión en español, ESL y tradicionales. También soy terapeuta de dislexia entrenada y tengo una Maestría en Administración Educativa y certificación de Directora. Tengo experiencia enseñando en los grados primero a quinto en escuelas públicas y privadas. Enseñé la clase de inmersión en español en Woodridge de 2000 a 2006 y también he enseñado en Cambridge. Espero con ansias un año fabuloso.
Nací en San Miguel de Allende, México y me mudé a Austin cuando tenía siete años, por lo que me considero un “austinita”. Estoy casada con el amor de mi vida, Tom, y tenemos tres hijos: Isabella se graduó de la Universidad de TAMU, y vive en CDMX, Sean Thomas es estudiante de tercer año y sigue los pasos de su hermana en College Station, y mi hijastra Erika (sí, el mismo nombre) vive en Houston. Disfrutamos estar juntos al aire libre, viajar a nuevos lugares, y nos encanta jugar tenis y pickleball.
