The Life and Times of Mr. Shea
First and foremost, thank you for visiting my web page.  I hope you were able to learn a few things about the class and what we are all about.  Now that you know more about us, let me tell you a few things about myself.

Picture it...Galveston, October 29, 1966.  It was a cool October evening.  Children all across the island were wondering what costume they might wear for Halloween.  My three sisters - Kelly, Jan and Rita - were patiently waiting to see if they were going to have a little brother or sister.  Being the night owl that I am, I waited until 9:50 p.m. to enter the world.  My parents, Daniel and Karen, were thrilled I had arrived.  Can you blame them?
My first few days were uneventful...blinking here, sleeping there.  Jan was very protective of her little brother.  This would be the foundation of her mothering skills she would use with her own children.
Let's jump ahead in time a few years to get on to my becoming a teacher.  I attended LaMarque High School - Go Cougars!- before attending University of Houston - once a Cougar...always a Cougar!  I received my Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.  I am certified in both Elementary Education (K - 6) as well as Early Childhood Education (Pre-K - 6).
I taught for 8 years at Cage Elementary School in the Houston ISD.  While at Cage Elementary, I taught First Grade and Kindergarten.  Ready for a new challenge, I moved on to Jenard Gross Elementary.  I taught second grade for two years.  I then accepted a position at Roberts Elementary School.  Roberts Elementary is an IB/PYP authorized school.  There are several IB/PYP schools in Texas.  At Roberts, I taught second grade for three years.  Ready for a new challenge, I moved to San Antonio.  Becoming a part of the Alamo Heights family was the smooth transition that I was hoping to find.  This is the start of my 11th year at Woodridge.  I taught third grade for ten years and am now very excited about teaching second grade.  While at Woodridge, I attended Lamar University and earned my M.Ed. in Teacher Leadership.
There is my story in a nut shell.  Thank you again for entrusting me to learn with your children every day.  I have always told parents that their children were put in my classroom in order for me to learn from them.  I look forward to the lessons your child will teach me.
