Biography

Hello and welcome to Fifth Grade Spanish Immersion!  I am looking forward to another great year!
This year will mark my 21th year in the teaching profession and my 16th here at Woodridge.  I taught in second grade for 12 years, teaching both Bilingual and Immersion classes, and three years ago I looped with my students and joined them in third grade Immersion!  I taught 5th grade dual language for the last two years and I am happy to be apart of the Immersion family once again this coming year.

I am a wife and the mom of an 12 year old boy, Nicky. He will be continuing his journey at the Junior School this year! I am originally from Eagle Pass, Texas.  I moved to San Marcos to attend Texas State University and received a bachelor's degree in Bilingual Education.  I stayed in San Marcos and taught for five years with SMCISD.  I moved to San Antonio in 2002 and have made AHISD and Woodridge my home for the last 16 years!  I have a Masters Degree in Counseling and I continue to work towards growing as a professional educator.

My educational philosophy has always been that your children come first!  I work very hard at establishing a healthy, loving, warm environment in my classroom where children and their parents can feel comfortable. I hope to instill in my students a genuine love of learning  while embracing the beauty of the Spanish language.  Fifth grade will be full of exciting new things and I know that with our combined efforts we will make your child's last year at Woodridge one to always remember!
