                                                 Srta. Bohlsen

I am excited for my eighth year here at Woodridge. This will be my sixteenth year teaching in Immersion and my eigteenth year teaching. This year, I will be teaching fifth grade Spanish Immersion (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math - STEM)

Educational background:

    * I graduated summa cum laude from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA with a double major in Elementary Education and Spanish.
    * I received my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA.
      * I have a Texas K-6 Elementary Teaching Certificate as well as a Texas EC-12 Principal's Certificate.

Teaching Experience:
    *I taught three years here at Woodridge in 5th grade Spanish Immersion.
    *I taught four years here at Woodridge in 3rd grade Spanish Immersion.
    *I taught for 8 years in the Southern Lehigh Immersion program. I taught 3rd grade for six years; then I looped with the class and taught 4th grade.  I then taught Language Arts and Social Studies to the 4th and 5th grade Spanish Immersion classes at a new Intermediate School (Grades 4-6).
    *I taught for two and half years at Liberty High School in Bethlehem, PA. While at LHS, I taught a variety of ESOL classes.


    * Teacher of the Week 2004, Radio: Soft Rock 100.7 FM (nominated by a student)
    * Technology Integrator 2005, Pennsylvania (nominated by principal)
    * Mini-Grant Award Recipient 2007- The SLSD Mini-grant Program encourages innovation in education  (I submitted the proposal for a SmartBoard)
    * Mini-Grant Award Recipient 2009 - The SLSD Mini-grant Program encourages innovation in education (I submitted the proposal for Stand-up desks)

    * Obviously, I am interested in languages. I believe that learning a second language is an invaluable resource because of the cognitive, creative, and academic benefits it provides.
    * I have developed an affinity for using technology. I enjoy incorporating many new technologies into my teaching. I believe that technology is a tool that can helps us when used properly.
    * I also enjoy art and believe that the arts are an important part of education.
